Resia was founded in 1974 by Erland Edvardsson and Björn Kellgren when they took over Alingsås travel agency. Their objective was for everyone living in the Alingsås area to receive the same travel agency service as people living in large towns and cities.
Now with its head office in Gothenburg, a strong vision and clear business concept, the company has grown to a total of 60 travel agencies throughout Sweden making it the largest privately-owned travel agency chain in the Nordic region. Resia offers the sector's widest range of options for private, business, and group and conference travel. We have reported positive results every year since our launch. Our three value words – respect, competence and energy – form the basis for the way in which we treat our customers, each other and our surroundings.
The group also includes Bengt-Martins, one of the leading players in mountain holidays in Sweden and Norway, and the Danish holiday cottage specialist.

No other player has as many suppliers under its roof, nor is there any other player with as many options for customers to choose from. Irrespective of whether a booking is made for business or
private use, our contact routes, information channels and wide range of options offer major benefits to the customer. Moreover, our 400 sales personnel have detailed knowledge of the range of options available. They go on regular
study tours around the world and also have excellent knowledge of the local markets. On these firm foundations, we can offer excellent service and customise every trip for every customer in
every individual case. In the process, we also form strong relationships with our customers.

Short or long trip, spa or sport, adventure or sun and sea, alone or in a group? Not only do we have the widest range of products in the travel sector, we also cooperate with the best suppliers in the industry. This is not only because they provide an excellent, well-proven range of offers but also because they work well with us at Resia and give our customers confidence and added value.
It is demand that rules. As we are extremely careful about the suppliers with whom we work, we only take on new partners when we need to broaden our range with completely new products. Obviously, the same requirements are made of our new partners as our existing ones. As a complement to the range we can offer in cooperation with our suppliers, we also arrange travel under our own management. This is often the result of good relations between our customers and the local travel agency, where the sales personnel pick up on their requirements and present customers with various special arrangements. With 60 travel agencies throughout Sweden, from Malmö in the south to Boden in the north, including www.resia.se, we know the local market well. So, among other things, we know that accessibility has been and always will be a highly important part of being a successful operation that is close to its customers.
We meet our customers at our travel agencies, on the phone and over the Internet. This combination allows us to give our customers the very best in terms of accessibility and service. Many people book their travel via the Internet but our experience shows that a growing number prefer to have personal contact with a salesperson.
Our travel agencies are being developed and modernised continuously. Our aim is for the stores to feel attractive and inviting. We aim to use new technology effectively and as optimally as possible. However, our travel agencies would be nothing without our sales staff who have a personal approach and can guide each customer with experience and competence to the best and most cost-effective travel option.
Our aim is for all customers to be able to make contact with our sales staff without undue delay. This rule applies at our travel agencies as well as over the telephone. As a business customer of Resia, you are also given a direct number to your own particular contact person and the option of a 24 hour telephone service.

Our website with online booking is counted as one of our 60 travel agencies and provides the same personal service over the telephone. Online support is also available via e-mail and chat. We are continuously developing www.resia.se and our goal is to offer our customers the opportunity to book the whole range of products via the website, too. We are also working to make www.resia.se a travel website packed with inspiration and destination tips.
Resia's three business areas
A holiday trip to Egypt, business trip to Malmö or a Conference and Incentive trip to New York or Istanbul - this is essentially about the same customers but with different needs in different circumstances. Leisure, Business, and Groups and Conference travel are three equally important business areas within Resia.
For more than 35 years we have helped our customers to realize their holiday dreams, whether their destination is the nearest big city or a paradise island on the other side of the world. Naturally, our sales staff can arrange charter trips and customize long journeys to ensure your holiday is as relaxing or adventurous as you would expect. Booking travel over the Internet is increasing but so is contact with the local travel agency which continues to fulfil an important function. The leisure travel business area is obviously large and extremely important for Resia and will continue to be so in the future.
By aggressively focusing on new customers, Resia has made its business travel operation more visible than before. During 2008, turnover for the business area increased by 18 per cent and our expressed aim is to continue to grow and take market share here, too.
During 2008, we launched our self-booking system for business travellers, and this is being used to an ever-increasing degree for easy booking of tickets, hotels and hire cars via a separate website. For best possible access, we also offer a 24 hour telephone service and every company is given its own contact person. In 2007, 2009 and 2010, Resia was voted Sweden's best business travel agency by business travellers and decision-makers in business travel, and received the “Business Travel Award”.
Groups & Conference
Since 2007, Groups & Conference has been a separate business area within Resia. Group and conference travel is an area that is constantly growing, among other things through a major initiative to attract new customers, and involves everything from trips to New York or Istanbul to small or large conference trips within Sweden and overseas. Often, this type of arrangement will include a large number of activities on the program.
Resia is also working as an incoming agency for conferences, congresses and meetings in several different locations. In close cooperation with customers, we arrive at the arrangement that offers the best possible value for money. In 2008, we established the group and congress booking tool which allows us to set up a special booking page on behalf of the customer on the Internet for each current project. This makes administration a great deal easier for the customer.
